Boragó, Santiago’s answer to the latest trend in foraging, hyper-localism and avant-garde gastronomy, will be represented in the Gelinaz! summit in Belgium this June. The event will bring together the hottest chefs in modern gastronomy, including chefs such as David Chang, Rene Redzepi, Luis Andoni Aduriz, and Santiago’s own Rodolfo Guzman of Boragó. The event’s website can be found here, and offers an insight into how things will play out. While the event is being held to honor Belgian culinary pioneer Philippe Edouard Cauderlier, it promises to be anything but a 19-th century celebration of food. More information to come.
This Saturday, May 4, Szot Microbrewery, located about 30 minutes outside of Santiago in Talagante, will host a weekly Farmer’s Market. The market will include artisan wines, handmade eats like empanadas, beer discounts and more. Szot will also be launching their Black Pearl (a collaborative beer from the likes of some of Chile’s best microbreweries) as well as their Salvaje 2013. The event will go from 11am to 6pm and promises to be a blast. For more information visit the Szot site at www.szot.cl, or their Facebook page here.

Each entry purchased includes two glasses of wine or two beers which the event promoters say helps to encourage commingling and networking. Salud!
Hogs, the hot dog stand and artisan sausage shop taking Providencia by storm, is celebrating its first anniversary, and apparently they’re giving away a bike as part of the celebration. Per their Facebook page, fans of the shop and the sausages should register with them to be given further information about the celebration. Find them on Facebook here.
