This weekend kicked off the official season of ferias and festivals in Santiago, which can only mean one thing: this sunny weather is almost here to stay so prepare to have your weekends booked. For those of you who fought the weather forecaster this weekend and forged on, you probably reaped the benefits by getting to partake in one of the kick starting events that took place.

Now that the temperatures are (finally) starting to heat up and the sun is staying out longer, there’s no better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than with a proper picnic.  Santiago’s first and only festival dedicated entirely to sitting on blankets and dining in the sun, Gustock, is back this weekend to make sure you get the most out of the great weather.  With free entry, a whole slew of bands lined up to play, and a lineup of stands that will be offering food and drink just in case you’re not in the mood to prep your own, there’s really no better reason to get out of the house.

Gustock will take place October 4 and 5 in Parque Araucano, and will feature a lineup of more than 10 different bands over the course of two days.  Entry is free, and all you need to bring is a blanket and some sunglasses.  If you’re not into cooking, various food and drink will be available for purchase.  Gustock will run from 11:00 to 20:00 both days.  We’ll see you there.
