By Patrick HiegerNow that the heat is on and the sun is out in Santiago, it’s a great weekend to get out and enjoy of one of the city’s biggest and most important food festivals, Mercado Paula Gourmet. Featuring chefs from around the world including Rafael Piqueras, acclaimed chef of Maras in Lima, Australia’s Bill Granger, and more than 100 stands offering a wide variety of dishes and gourmet products, the seventh edition of this springtime classic promises to be bigger and better than ever. This year, in addition to the six different restaurants on hand serving up world cuisine, there will also be an entire section dedicated to food trucks. Renzo Garibaldi, the Peruvian butcher who has been been winning over hearts and stomachs with his 300-day dry-aged beef, and other carnivorous creations, will also be on hand for live butchering and cooking demonstrations. Simply put, there will be no shortage of great cuisine.
Mercado Paula Gourmet will take place this weekend at Parque Araucano, from Thursday, October 23, to Sunday, October 26. The festival will run from 11:00 to 23:00 each day. General admission is CLP $5.000, and children 12 and under will enter for free. We’ll see you there.
