Pepe Mujica Is (Not) Opening An Organic Grocery Chain (ES)

Consider us disappointed, if not at least slightly intrigued. This past Monday, as Pepe Mujica was handing over the presidency of Uruguay after what many consider to have been a benchmark run, satirical news site Actualidad Panamericana announced that the former commander in chief would be opening a line of organic groceries. Dubbed Mujiquerías, they would offer “wholistic, organic, natural, self-sustaining and self-grown” products. Throw a “hipster” in there, and you’ve got yourself an ironic, non-true post. Untrue or not, at least for now, it’s not so far out of the realm of possibility.

Since Pepe Mujica became president, every December 24 the presidential residency has hosted a great cook out.  No other president has done it, and it has become a classic.  This year, President Mujica invited patients from the Taller Sala 12 from the Psychiatric Hospital Vilardebó, 500 children from the Instituto del Niño y Adolescente, and older adults from various senior homes.
