If the nearly 120 weekly minutes of the wildly popular Top Chef Chile just aren’t enough to satisfy your culinary competition viewing needs, don’t worry.  This Sunday, October 26, that other cooking show, Master Chef Chile, will premiere, giving you twice the viewing options and double the drama.  Ready?

Unlike Top Chef, Master Chef is a competition composed of amateur cooks earning their kitchen stripes week in and week out.  Expect more tears, more dishes that look like mush, and apparently some military helicopters.  Watch the preview and get stoked.  The production value looks pretty top notch.

The spring television lineup for cooking competitions is really heating up in Chile.  Although we’re most excited about Top Chef, which starts Thursday, September 25, Chile is also about to premiere its first season of Master Chef, which has caught on all over South America, with versions in Peru, Brazil, and Argentina.  The premiere of both shows at roughly the same time could make for some big changes in Chilean cuisine in the next few months, and will certainly make for some huge ratings.  Since we’ve already beat you over the head with previews of Top Chef, here’s the first TV spot for Master Chef, which should be hitting the screen very soon.  It’s a pretty good take on how the general public views food, and could be pretty representative of what to expect from the show.  Enjoy.

Oh, baby.  Get ready, Chile, because the biggest thing to hit TV since the telenovela, is a telenovela mixed with a cooking competition.  TVN officially announced today that the first-ever season of Top Chef Chile will premiere on Thursday, September 25.  This could be a big game changer for Chile and its cuisine.  Are you as excited as we are?

Although a full list of the competitors has yet to be released, the majority are now listed on the show’s official website.  The cast includes restaurant owners, a sous chef from Boragó, pastry chefs, a former television star, and more.  For now, check the partial list on the website, and see if you can pick out the others from the picture.  Primetime Chilean TV drama will never be the same.
