Andoni Luis Aduriz is one of the top chefs in the world, with his restaurant Mugaritz in San Sebastián, Spain ranked the sixth best restaurant on the list of the World’s 50 Best. Next month he’ll be traveling to Rio to Janeiro to reunite with his former protégé, Chef Rafael Costa e Silva.

Costa e Silva worked at Mugaritz for five years, starting as an intern and working his way up to executive chef. Now at his new restaurant Lasai, he’ll join forces with Aduriz for three days to create a 17-course tasting menu.

Rio de Janeiro will host Belgian Beer Weekend, a four day event that brings more than 40 Belgian breweries and nearly 200 labels together.  This will be the first time the 16 year old festival will be held outside of Brussels.

The public will be able to sample from the best Belgian breweries, including De Halve Maan, which has been producing beer for five centuries. Trignac de Vanhonsebrouck is another to watch, with a tripel aged in cognac barrels. Over 100 labels will be coming to Brazil for the first time.

Besides beer, the event promises to be a great foodie experience. Food trucks and stands will offer Belgian treats such as moules e frites (mussels marinated in beer with fries), pizza with a beer based dough, and cheese croquettes. There will also be a bistro to serve traditional meals such as vlaams stoofvlees, a meat stew cooked with Belgian beer, paired with fries and a beer. You can also count on Belgian chocolate and waffles for dessert, as well as beer flavored ice cream.
