Earlier this week, the team behind the Latin America’s 50 Best Awards, which has been moved to Mexico for 2015, were in the host country to commingle with the chefs who will host hordes of fans, journalists, and other chefs from throughout the region. Their hosts for the visit included chefs Jorge Vallejo of Quintonil, Mikel Alonso of Biko, and Pedro Evia of Kuuk, amongst others, who cooked for their guests, and shared some ideas of what this year’s ceremony will look like. Running the kitchen for the #50BestTalks was Elena Reygadas of Rosetta, who was the recipient of last year’s award for best Female Chef in Latin America.

As a lead up to September’s release of the second edition of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, San Pellegrino and Veuve Clicquot have announced this year’s recipient of Latin America’s Best Female chef.  This year’s winner is Elena Reygadas from Rosetta in Mexico City.  Rosetta has been open for only three years, yet her world-influenced Mexican cuisine was enough to get her some serious attention.  Will her restaurant also make it on to this year’s list of winners?  We’ll just have to wait and see.

Reygada joins the ranks with Brazil’s Helena Rizzo, who was last year’s–and the first ever–recipient of the award.  Reygada will be given her award on September 3 in Lima, where this year’s edition of the awards will once again be held.  We’ll keep you posted with all the latest news leading up to the 2014 Latin America’s 50 Best.  Stay tuned.
