In preparation for the upcoming San Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 competition which will take place later this year in Italy, applications were opened late last year for working chefs under 30 years old to apply to compete. The applications were divided into region, ranging from France to Africa, the United States to Switzerland and, of course, Latin America. Chefs were asked to submit their original dish which, if they are chosen to represent their region, they will cook for a panel of leading chefs and culinary professionals at Expo Milan in June. With the application process closed and ten competitors chosen from each region, the competition can now begin.

The majority of this year’s Lat Am contestants hail from Mexico, though Peru and Brazil are also represented. They represent time spent under chefs like Enrique Olvera, Monica Kisic, and Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, each considered to be some of the leading chefs in the region. Before the young chefs can make it to Italy, they’ll have to go through a series of 20 different challenges for local juries, as they vie for the one spot open to each region in the finals.  We wish the best of luck to each of the chefs, and a great finish for Latin America!
